ALAN MURRAY Bsc (Hons) DipST MSST
Alan obtained his Bsc in Applied Sports Therapy from Middlesbrough University. He is trained in joint mobilisation techniques, deep tissue massage, myofascial release techniques, PNF stretching techniques, electrotherapy, and rehabilitation exercise programme design.
Alan has worked in a variety of clinical settings, and has experience in treating both professional and amateur athletes, as well as those who shy away from sport and exercise altogether! He specialises in the diagnosis/assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of sports, and musculoskeletal injuries. His rehabilitation focuses on postural control, movement analysis, specific strengthening of muscle tissue and improving precise stability and control of joints.
He practices with an evidence based approach; using hands-on techniques (including joint mobilisation and manipulation techniques, deep tissue massage, myofascial release techniques when appropriate), electrotherapy and injury specific exercise prescription. His understanding of biomechanics and the way the body works as a whole underlines a philosophy of diagnosing the cause as the priority.

What is Sports Therapy?
Sports Therapy is a clinical health profession that aims to safely rehabilitate people following injury and improve biomechanical movement disorders. Sports Therapy uses evidence based modalities; such as manual therapies, cryotherapy therapy, electrotherapy, specific rehabilitation exercises and injury prevention education.
Sports Injury Therapists are injury rehabilitation specialists whose training involves University degree level study, in sports injury rehabilitation science subjects such as anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and psychology. Sports Injury Therapists also study a wide variety of treatment techniques, and continue to do so throughout their career, where continued professional development (CPD) is a requirement.
Membership of the Society of Sports Therapists also guarantees that a Sports Injury Therapist is fully insured and is governed by a stringent professional code of conduct.

Growing up in the Scottish
Highlands I always had a passion for exercise and sport, where I played
football semi-professionally for over 15 years, and gained trials with a professional team in Scotland.
Finally I have coached and trained both youth and senior football
teams with outstanding results. This involved working with Ross County FC where I provided community coaching to youth players. I am a qualified SFA coach with Level 1, 2 and 3 certificates for children and youth football.
